“I want Nick Gantry to go away,” I said.

Vicky looked at me. “What are you thinking, Jeff?”
“I want Nick Gantry to go away,” I said.
“This is a dangerous road,” Tabs interjected.
“Yeah,” Vicky agreed. “What is your motivation here Jeff? Revenge can be very ugly. This isn’t like you to pursue a vendetta.”
I sighed and took the time to reflect on my intent.
“I don’t think I’m really motivated by revenge here. Cindy is her own person and has always had the right to do whatever she wanted. She’s really more of a symptom at this point instead of being the real problem,” I said.
“No. The real problem is that Nick Gantry is just a malicious bully. He always has been,” I said.
“His success has been driven by the dark flaws of his character. He’s greedy, sadistic, and just a general parasite that feeds off the misery of others,” I said.
“Well, he certainly has established a long list of enemies over time,” Vicky said. “There are a lot of people out there, some with substantial resources that could be helpful to us.”
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend,” I said.
