The thundering clap of the slap to Carl’s face echoed off the surrounding buildings near the beach.
Carl was stunned it happened so quickly that he didn’t even realize that he’d been stuck until his face exploded in pain.
“You will apologize to Mrs Fields, then you will leave and never contact her again. If you don’t do that right now, we will escort you to some place less pleasant and continue this conversation.”
Carl grunted. “I’m sorry Mrs Fields.”
Carl turned and practically ran away until he was no longer in sight.
A woman stepped up and grabbed Cindy dragging her away from the beach.
Cindy cried out. “What are you doing? Where are we going?”
“We’re going to the airport to take you home, Mrs Fields,” she said.
Cindy noted that other people had collected her belongings. The next time she looked back before the beach disappeared from sight there were four people that remained behind. They were all relaxed on the beach, like nothing had happened, just another group of tourists enjoying the sun.
“What the hell is going on?” Cindy asked herself as she was shoved into the back of an SUV that drove off in the direction of the airport.
